'Kewensis' is identical to the type, save the flowers which are a darker, blood red.[1]
'Kewensis' is regarded as slightly hardier than the type, but still demands some protection from winter winds, and a free draining soil. It is cultivated in the USA (USDA zones 7 - 8), and the UK where it is included in the NCCPG National Collection held by Longstock Park Nursery near Stockbridge in Hampshire.
Suppliers in the UK can be found in the RHS Plantfinder [1].
